I've always disliked client portals. Hate may be the better word.
Whether it's my CPA, law firm, interior designer, or builder, everyone insists I log into THEIR specific platform—one that inevitably changes every few years. I'm constantly downloading files, modifying them, uploading again (and again), leading to countless confusing drafts scattered across my computer. I know the provider on the other side is doing the same thing.
Meanwhile, I already have unlimited storage with Google, Microsoft, or Dropbox—platforms I'm comfortable with and already paying for. Sharing files from these systems with my professional service providers has always been a hassle because they don't want to log into yet another account.It made me wonder: Why can't my cloud talk directly to your cloud? Sure, it's possible if you're a developer or love tinkering with complex integrations like Zapier, but for most of us, that's not practical.
